Best Parallettes · Rings & Bars
The best parallettes: three heights, three prices, one square foot of floor
Parallettes are the smallest piece of gear on this site and the one that unlocks L-sits, handstand work and deficit push-ups. Three pairs ranked on height, handle and stability — for a floor you can't drill and a closet you can store them in.

What parallettes are for
Two short parallel bars a few inches off the floor. They put your wrists in a neutral position (no more bent-back wrists on push-ups), lift your hands so your legs can swing through for L-sits and tuck holds, and give handstand work a grip. For someone training in an apartment they are the cheapest way to add real skill work — and they weigh a few pounds and fit under a couch. They do not replace dip bars: at 4–6 in. high, dips are shallow.
Height, handle, footprint
| Pair | Height | Length | Handle | Rated |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GORNATION Parallettes Pro | 10 cm (~4 in.) | 38 cm (15 in.) | 40 mm beech wood | 500 kg / pair |
| Juperbsky Push Up Stands | 5.5 in. | 12 in. | TPR-covered steel | Not published by weight; steel |
| Yes4All Wooden Parallettes | 4.3 in. | 11.8 in. | 1.5 in. acacia | 300 lb |
Height. 4–6 in. is the low-parallette range: L-sits, tuck planche, deficit push-ups, handstand practice. Taller parallettes (12 in.+, GORNATION's Max) allow dips and deeper holds but store worse. Handle. 40 mm wood is the gymnastics diameter — grippy and warm; 1.5 in. (38 mm) wood is close; steel with a rubber cover is thinner and slicker. Length. 12–15 in. gives room to shift the hands; the short Juperbsky is fine for push-ups and L-sits.
Wood or steel
Wood handles grip better dry and with chalk and are what gymnasts use; they need to stay dry and get wiped down. Steel with TPR grips is cheaper and shrugs off a damp garage. For a first pair used mostly for push-ups and L-sits, either; for handstand work where the hand rolls on the bar, wood.
Stability is the safety spec
A parallette that tips on a push-up is a wrist injury. Wide feet and a low center of gravity are what matter: the GORNATION's wide non-slip feet and the Juperbsky's 5.7 lb steel bases don't tip; the Yes4All's hexagon-braced base is solid on a flat floor. Put any of them on a mat or bare floor, not a rug.
How this list was built
Scored on the parallettes rubric — height and stability 30%, grip and material 25%, footprint and storage 15%, rated load 15%, value 15% — from the makers' published dimensions and materials. The GORNATION leads on handle and stability; the Juperbsky is the stable budget pick; the Yes4All is the wood alternative at a lower rating. No parallettes tested.

Pick 1 · Parallettes
GORNATION Parallettes Pro
GORNATION
Low 10 cm (4 in.) parallettes with 40 mm beech handles on a wide steel base, rated 500 kg per pair — the calisthenics-brand parallettes for L-sits, planche work and handstand push-ups.
Best for
Skill work — L-sits, tuck planche, handstands — where wrist angle and stability matter
Why it is #1. 40 mm beech handles on a wide steel base rated 500 kg — the calisthenics-brand pair built for L-sits, tuck planche and handstand push-ups. Sold on Amazon as a three-size set too.
Pros
- 40 mm wood handles are the diameter gymnasts use — grippy, warm, no tape needed
- Wide non-slip feet; the Pro is the most stable of GORNATION's three sizes
- Sold on Amazon as a three-size set (Active, Pro, Max) too
Cons
- At 4 in. high they're too low for deep dips — that's the Max model's job
- Priced above plastic push-up bars

Pick 2 · Parallettes
Juperbsky Push Up Stands Parallettes
Juperbsky
Steel mini parallettes, 12 × 7 × 5.5 in., with TPR grips and wide non-slip bases, rated far beyond any user — the sturdiest cheap push-up bars for a small floor.
Best for
The most stable budget parallettes for push-ups and V-sits
The stable budget pair. 5.7 lb of steel with wide non-slip bases and TPR grips; 5.5 in. high. They don't tip, they cost very little, and they live under a couch.
Pros
- Wide bases and 5.7 lb of steel — they do not tip on a push-up
- 5.5 in. height is enough for deficit push-ups and low L-sits
- Cheapest set here
Cons
- TPR grips are thinner than a 40 mm wood handle — less grip training
- Too low for dips or deep handstand push-ups

Pick 3 · Parallettes
Yes4All Wooden Parallettes (12 in.)
Yes4All
Acacia hardwood parallettes about 11.8 in. long, 4.3 in. high, 1.5 in. handles, 300 lb capacity, with anti-skid pads — a solid-wood alternative to plastic push-up bars.
Best for
Push-ups, L-sits and handstand practice on a budget, in wood
Solid wood for less. Acacia, 1.5 in. handles, 4.3 in. high, 300 lb. A wood-handle pair at a budget price; the 20 and 24 in. versions give more hand room.
Pros
- Solid acacia with a hexagon-braced base — lighter than steel, stiffer than plastic
- 1.5 in. handle diameter builds grip
- 20 in. and 24 in. lengths also sold for wider hand positions
Cons
- 300 lb rating is the lowest here — fine for bodyweight, not for a vest
- Wood and sweat: wipe them down or the finish dulls

Buying guide
Which height
Low (4–6 in.) for push-ups, L-sits, handstands and storage. Tall (12 in.+) only if dips are the goal — then dip bars are the better buy.
The first three exercises
- Push-ups with neutral wrists — 3 × 8.
- Tuck hold — knees to chest, feet off the floor, 3 × 10 seconds.
- L-sit progression — one leg extended, then both, 3 × 5–10 seconds.
FAQ
Questions readers ask
What are parallettes good for?
Neutral-wrist push-ups, L-sits and tuck holds, handstand practice, and deficit push-ups — skill and core work in a square foot of floor.
How tall should parallettes be?
4–6 in. for push-ups, L-sits and handstands; 12 in. or more only if you want dips, in which case dip bars are the better tool.
Parallettes or push-up bars?
Parallettes — longer bars with room for the legs. They do everything push-up handles do plus L-sits.
Wood or metal parallettes?
Wood for grip and feel (keep them dry); metal with rubber grips for a damp garage and a lower price.
