Privacy policy
We collect as little as a website can. Here is what that means in practice.
This policy covers Rope & Rep (ropeandrep.com), published by Iron Mako Media. It describes what information the site collects, how it is used, and your choices. Questions: mike@blackironathletics.com.
What we collect
No accounts, no newsletter, no comments. The site does not ask you to register or subscribe and does not sell anything directly.
Contact form. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type. It is emailed to us and used only to reply. We do not add you to any list. The form includes anti-spam checks (a hidden field, a timing check and a per-address rate limit) that involve your IP address transiently and are not stored.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which product buttons are clicked (an anonymous “affiliate_click” event recording the product and page, not you). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data under Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking third-party scripts.
Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, pages requested, time) for security and performance. They are retained briefly and not used to identify readers.
Affiliate links and third parties
Product links go through our own resolver (/go/…) and then to the retailer with a tracking tag. The resolver records nothing about you. Once you arrive at Amazon or another retailer, their privacy policy applies; Amazon sets cookies that let it attribute a purchase to this site (see the affiliate disclosure). We do not receive your name, address or payment information from any retailer — only aggregate commission reports.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics sets its own; see above for how to opt out.
Children
The site is written for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you (almost certainly only a contact-form email, if you sent one) and ask us to delete it. Email mike@blackironathletics.com. Residents of California and other jurisdictions with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide; we honor them for everyone.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the “Updated” date at the top of this page will change and the new version will be posted here.
